Sports : 1st March 2012 : Surya World – Institutions of Academic Excellence organized ‘Athletic Meet-2012’ in the college campus as a part of the week- long activities under Surya World Week 2012, wherein over 300 students from various courses like MBA, B.Tech, BBA, BCA, B. Arch and B.Pharma participated.

The meet was formally inaugurated by Dr. Bhupinder Singh, Joint Director, Department of Sports. Punjabi University. Others present on the occasion included Mr Gurmeet Singh, Sports Deptt, Punjabi University, Ms Saanya Verma, Director, Surya World, Dr Suresh Kumar, Campus Director, Col Rajeev Sharma, Head Administration, Dr Rajnish Wattas, Distinguished Professor, Deptt Of Architecture and other senior faculty members. The inaugural ceremony included unfurling of the flag and an impressive march past wherein over 150 students participated.

Speaking on the occasion as the Chief Guest, Dr Singh said, “It is very important to give equal importance to sports as well as to academics. This increases the concentration and stamina for studies along with enhancing physical fitness and immunity.” He encouraged the students to adopt sports as a life style.

The meet started with h 100 mt. heat for boys participated actively and enthusiastically by students. Overall 14 events were organized, including 100 mt. heats for girls, long jump, high jump, 400 mt. relay etc. More than 300 students participated showing their sportsmanship and comradeship. The whole atmosphere echoed with the cheers, applauds, clapping, whistles motivating the participants.

Later in the day, Dr Suresh Kumar, Campus Director, gave away the medals to the winners securing 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions. The trophies for the best girl athlete and best athlete boy was bagged by 1st Shweta (ECE 2nd Sem) and Abhishek Kohli (Mech. Engg 3rd Sem)

The winners of the various events were 100 mt Girls Heat : 1st Bhavna (Arch), 2nd Anjali (ECE), 3rd Prabhjot (Arch) ; 200 mt Girls Heat : 1st Anjali (ECE), 2nd Prabhjot (Arch), 3rd Shweta (ECE) ; 400 mt Boys Heat : 1st Prakash (Civil), 2nd Deepak (Mech), 3rd Piyush (Civil) ; Long Jump Boys : 1st Vivekanand (Mech), 2nd Faizal (Civil), 3rd Deepak (Mech) ; Long Jump Girls : 1st Bhavna (Arch), 2nd Anjali (ECE), 3rd Shweta (ECE) in s and High Jump Boys : 1st Ranjan, 2nd Himanshu (Arch), 3rd Abhishek (Mech).
