Overview

Architecture is the study which deals with planning and designing of building and structures. The rapidly changing requirements demand professionally trained architects who can cope with changing times and also design quality, environment friendly constructions.

Surya School of Architecture (SSA) gives the students an exposure to application oriented teaching with live design projects, extensive model and field work. It provides students a favorable atmosphere to innovate and create by mixing contemporary and traditional techniques to emerge as successful designers of the day.

Programs

Bachelor in Architecture(B. Arch)

Duration- 5 years
The curriculum is structured for five years and is divided into two stages. The first stage consists of three years of full time study followed by practical training in corporate or at construction sites for 20 weeks. The second stage consists of full time study for one and a half year, whereby each student is required to write a research based dissertation, prepare for a seminar and present a design thesis along with the advanced level of compulsory and elective theory courses. The students gradually learn that architecture has always evolved under the influence of at least four, occasionally conflicting, forces that is history and culture, social aspirations, climate and evolving technologies. National and international level workshops, exhibitions and seminars are continually held in the Department, several of which are organized in partnership with international universities and research organizations. SSA aspires that participating students get exposure to new ways of thinking and imagining.

Admission Procedure

Eligibility criteria for all courses is according to I. K Gurjral Punjab Technical University rules.

Candidates seeking admission to B. Arch. are not required to take JEE

For admission to B. Arch, the candidate should have passed or appeared in any one of the following qualifications:

  • 10+2 or equivalent examination from a recognized board with Mathematics as subject of study by securing 50 % marks in aggregate.

OR

  • 10+3 Diploma(any stream) recognized by Central/State Governments with 50 % marks in aggregate

OR

  • International Baccalaureate Diploma, after 10 years of schooling with not less than 50 % marks in aggregate and Mathematics as compulsory subject of examination.

All Admissions to B. Arch degree shall be subject to passing of National Aptitude Test in Architecture(NATA) conducted by Council of Architecture(COA).The minimum passing score for NATA is 80 out of 200 for all categories of candidates. There is no relaxation in the minimum passing score for NATA in any manner whatsoever.

Counseling for admissions shall be carried out by PTU based on valid NATA score and marks secured in qualifying exam in ratio of 50:50.

Management Quota Seats (33% of the intake) : As per the merit of

  • Marks of 10+2.
  • Valid NATA Score
Seat Allocation
  • 85% seats for Punjab residents.
  • 15% other state quota
  • Vacant seats if any are open to all.
